Background information about this issue:
Last fall, our Michigan Legislature Health Policy committee declined further consideration of a House Bill which was then named HB 5594, due to widespread and solid opposition from many levels of our Michigan health care community.
This early winter, the very small handful of “medical naturopaths”, who promote legislation to take away titles, scope of practice, JOBS, and various other rights from a few hundred established natural healers and credentialed Traditional Naturopaths all over Michigan. They also CHANGED THE NUMBER OF THE BILL, (it’s HB 4152 now!) which makes it more difficult for consumers in a democratic society who are following issues to detect legislative activity.
The new bill is the same as the old bill (HB 5594 as mentioned), with additional draconian language added.
Traditional Naturopaths work in all 50 states, and in Michigan we are unwilling to lose the jobs/practices and their established client base, which they have invested their lives in earning. Furthermore, they have always been willing to compromise with the promoters of this legislation, which serves a minor few and seeks the current rights of thousands.

IN California, for example, Traditional Naturopaths enjoy established flourishing practices and reputations, yet they live and work alongside “medical” naturopaths who have attained a licensure law. We have NEVER objected to licensure for these practitioners per-se, we object to the draconian scope of the bill language and intent, and its consequences as written.
Practitioners, consumers, legislators, political activists, students, families, moms- in short- ANYONE who has anything to hear or say about this issue, are welcomed and encouraged to attend this forum. Refreshments, a moderated forum, and clarity of ideas affecting all of us in this community- please attend; your view is welcome.
